Dwarf shrublet, densly branching from base. Stems whitish, ascending, with stellate-pubescent 15-30 cm high. Leaves stipulate, linear or lanceolate, 5-18 mm long and 2-5 mm wide, revolute-margined, with prominent midrib below, hairy, subsessile. Inflorescence spike-like, 1-sided, loosely 3-10 flowered. Flowers sessile or subsessile. Sepals 5, hairy, inner sepals ovate, with 3-4 nerved, 3-4 mm long and 2 mm wide, the outer 2 much reduced and bract-like, 1-1.5 mm long. Petals 5, yellow, distinct, imbricate, broadly obovate, somewhat longer than sepals. Stamens many. Style about 1 mm long, bent from base, stigma capitate. Capsule ovoid 3-4 mm long, 3-valved, villose. Seeds many, angular, small, yellowish-brown.

Flowering from February to November.
