Honey nectar plants. Very good fodder for livestock.

woody, spreading subshrubs, with spinescent branches, 30-60 cm high, much branched from the base, with dense intricate stems forming compact bush, glabrous or sparsely pubescent. Lower leaves sub-petiolate, glabrous, 5-20 mm long, 1-3 mm wide, linear to oblong, acute; upper ones smaller and narrower. Flowers white, 1-6 in axillary heads. Peduncles 12-25 mm long. Bracts and bracteoles as long as sepals, lanceolate, acute, villous. Sepals 7-12 mm long, linear to oblanceolate, acuminate, sericeous-tomentose. Corolla white, 20-30 mm across, hairy bands outside. Ovary glabrous; style slender; stigma cylindrical. Capsule globose, glabrous. Seeds 2, glabrous, dark brown, 2-3 mm long, tuberculate. Flowering from March-June.  

mostly at higher mountain elevations and rocky places.
