Fruits have wound- healing properties, used to heal fissures.

Suffrutescent, 40-80 cm high. Stem many-branched, leafy erect, grey-white, with stellate indumentum, woody at base. Leaves alternate, oblong-lanceolate, 2-6 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, acute and tapering at base to broadly ovate-triangular, with truncate and repand-serrate margins. Racemes axillary and terminal. Staminate flowers small, subsessile in spike-like racemes, with 5 stamens, rarely more. Pistillate flowers 1-4 in a cyme, with short pedicels. Capsules 5-7 mm in diameter, conical-tuberculate and scurfy. Seeds ovoid, brown 3-4 mm long, scabrous-tuberculate. 

Flowering from February to September.
